  1. I’ve come to appreciate is the methodology of the Business Canvass. Steve Blank isn’t saying don’t plan in your business – which some conclude when they hear “don’t write a traditional business plan. ” The Business Canvass is a disciplined approach to testing your hypothesis about a new venture. In HBR May 2013, I was excited to read Blank’s views on lean start-up methodology as a tool to deal with continual disruption. “In the 21st century those forces will make people in every kind of organization – start-ups, small businesses, corporations, and government – feel the pressure of rapid change. The lean start-up approach will help them meet it head-on, innovate rapidly, and transform business as we know it.”

    • Thanks Jean. The launchpad approach says don’t start planning until you have a scalable, profitable model that has been tested. You then go into operational mode and planning becomes much less of a series of guesses and more of a practical framework.
